The International Student Nano Olympiad (ISNO) is set to return in September 2025

Summer 2025, the 1st International Student Nano Olympiad

The International Student Nano Olympiad (ISNO) is set to return in September 2025, offering a global stage for exceptional young minds in the field of nanotechnology. This prestigious online competition invites students aged 16 to 18 from around the world to test their scientific knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills in a high-level international arena.

Founded by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which continues to serve as the permanent secretariat, ISNO is more than a contest it is a visionary initiative designed to foster global scientific collaboration and cultivate the next generation of nanotechnology leaders. By connecting future innovators with leading figures in nanoscience, the Olympiad serves as a dynamic bridge between youth potential and cutting-edge research.

Over the past 16 years, Iran has hosted the National Nanotechnology Olympiad, attracting more than 110,000 high school students and establishing a strong foundation for scientific excellence. Building on this legacy, the international edition aims to scale that impact globally.

Each participating country can nominate 1 to 5 students to form a national team. But ISNO's influence reaches beyond the competition itself member nations also play an active role in shaping the event, from contributing to educational content to participating in jury panels and strategy sessions.

How to Participate in ISNO 2025

Step 1: Students can begin their journey by visiting the official ISNO website (www.ino-official.org), where free educational videos provide foundational training in nanotechnology. These resources are available from April 1 to June 30, 2025, and are intended to help students prepare for their national team selection process.

Step 2: Nationally selected teams must register online via the ISNO website between July 1 and July 31, 2025. Each team may consist of up to five high school students.

Step 3: Once registered, teams will participate in specialized virtual workshops designed around the central scientific challenge of the 2025 competition. These sessions help students refine their skills and prepare for the final exam, which will be held from August 1 to August 31, 2025.

Step 4: After careful evaluation by an international panel of experts, gold, silver, and bronze medals along with certificates of honor will be awarded to top-performing students. All participants will receive official certificates of participation. Results will be announced in September 2025.

The International Student Nano Olympiad is more than a competition it's a celebration of youth, science, and international cooperation. As the world looks to scientific innovation to tackle future challenges, ISNO continues to be a beacon for emerging talent and a catalyst for global collaboration in nanotechnology.
