Advances in COVID-19 Testing

This Virtual Issue features contributions from Analytical Chemistry, ACS Sensors, ACS Nano, and Journal of Proteome Research, and showcases recent advances in analytical methods for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA, the viral proteins, and antibodies elicited by the virus. The collection of research articles covers a diverse range of analytical techniques, such as the improved and multiplexed reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), isothermal amplification of nucleic acids, CRISPR technology, nanotechnology, immunoassays, microfluidics, mass spectrometry, and –omics technology. Selected perspective and review papers highlight challenges and research needs for molecular diagnosis of COVID-19 and underline scientific contributions to the understanding, control, and mitigation of this infectious disease.
